Jurta Theatre
Jurta Theater was established in April 1987 in the Népliget in Budapest with László Romhányi’s leading. The independent theater built their edifice on its own. The theater provided a venue for discussions among members of the Hungarian Democratic Forum in the half half of 1988. Furthermore, other political parties civil organizations had ties to the institution. In 1988, its working became impossible economically. It had accumulated a great amount of debt, so they published an announcement to the audience and organized a demonstration to protest the state’s discrimination against them.
