The Ministry of Human Capacities in Hungary was created in 2010 as a ‘Ministry of National Capacity’ by uniting earlier ministries. Zoltán Balog became its leader in May 2012, and at that time the ministry received its current name. This ministry is responsible for policies on – among others – family, sports, and culture, as well as the coordination of science policy, education, and healthcare. Since 2012 the Ministry’s tasks are to improve equal opportunity, social and civic relations, coordination of relations with the churches, national minority policy, and the integration of Roma.
