First Week of Christian Culture (WCC) took place between 20-27 April 1975 in St. Anne's Church in Warsaw. In spite of ignoring the event by official media, it was a big success in terms of attendance, as well as critical reception by the audience. First WCC showed a great need in socialist Poland for the events presenting independent culture and modern Polish art. Weeks of Christian Culture very quickly spread to other Polish cities and became an annual event – they are still organised in many of them.
The success of this event was followed by forming Artists' Priesthood, whose members frequently met in St. Anne's Church in Warsaw and engaged in intellectual debates about Polish culture, but also about social and political state of affairs.
